Rey Mysterio is an incredibly talented athlete and professional wrestler. He started wrestling when he was only eight years old, and by the time he was fifteen, he had already participated in his first match. He was trained in Tijuana, Mexico by his uncle, Rey Misterio Sr. He began wrestling in AAA, a Lucha Libre professional wrestling promotion/company in Mexico, where he ended up winning both the AAA Welterweight Title and the AAA Light Heavyweight Title. He also wrestled for WWA, another Lucha Libre promotion in Tijuana, Mexico.

He wrestled for a short period of time in ECW before moving on to WCW, where he remained until the company's end. Shortly after the company was bought by Vince McMahon (the owner of WWF/WWE), Rey was recommended by some of his friends and competitors that had already joined WWF. He made his WWE debut in July of 2002, where he has remained ever since.

Standing at 5 foot 6 and only 165 pounds, he is often deemed the underdog of his matches and his opponents generally outweigh and outsize him. But like most underdogs, Rey has a “never give up” attitude—he is very resilient and doesn't give up without putting up a fight. He has a huge heart, and is very passionate about what he does. And perhaps the most amazing thing about Rey (aside from his athleticism) is his personality. He is very sweet, polite, and kind to each and every one of his fans, and is truly a wonderful person.
